The brief
The client’s late husband had been in charge of the garden. As circumstances changed, it was time for a refresh and a more flexible space.
Site: A small-to-medium flat garden in a Bristol terrace.
Requirements:
An ‘adult swing’, a swing suitable and safe for anyone of any age or size, solo
An area to chill out and enjoy the garden in peace
Low-maintenance planting
Rationalisation of the existing shed and greenhouse
Design response
A space for play
A bespoke swing with a large seat, surrounded by aesthetically pleasing safety bark. The swing is now enjoyed by grandparents and grandchildren alike.
A relaxing space
A new end-of-garden hideout with a small patio and rocking chair amidst the planting.
Low maintenance
New low-maintenance borders to complement existing planting.
